Created in 1963, the west side of Lake Gaston begins at Kerr Dam and ends on the east side at Gaston Dam. The lake, 200 feet above sea level, was created in 1963 by Dominion Generation to produce electrical power. The water levels remain fairly constant with a typical fluctuation of plus or minus six inches and are controlled by Dominion Generation.

In addition to the five counties, the lake is also divided into quadrants - NE, NW, SE, and SW - each of which have their own unique charm. When investing in real estate on Lake Gaston, it is important to understand the layout of the land along with county rules, regulations and taxes.
